Report Card

Grading Period Ends Today

January 19th is the last day for semester 1 grading period. Parents/Guardians should expect to receive semester one report cards the week of January 25th. We will send out more details about how to access your student’s grades in our next email.  Citizenship grades are important for upcoming school functions (see the next item).

School Dance and Expectations

The Valentine Dance is scheduled from 12:45 - 2:15 pm on Thursday, February 8. With any school function at Dana Middle School, students need to maintain adequate citizenship in order to qualify. As mentioned in the student handbook, all students may participate in school events unless they have 2 or more U’s (unsatisfactory). If a student receives 2 or more U’s in citizenship they will not be eligible to participate in the school event for that grading period. Students do have the opportunity to improve their citizenship every 6 week grade period.

6th Grade Correia Field Trip Friday, January 26th

Sixth-grade students will take a field trip to Correia Middle School on Friday, January 26th for a campus tour.  Students will report to their first period class as usual. At 8:45am, students will walk with their first period teacher (or an assigned teacher) to the blacktop. Students will be transported by a school bus to Correia with a teacher chaperone. A permission slip was sent home with your student on Monday, January 8. Your child must turn in this permission slip to his/her first period teacher to be eligible to go on the field trip to Correia Middle. The deadline to turn in permission slips was Thursday, January 18. If your student has not already turned in a signed permission slip and you want your student to participate in the field trip, please turn it in on Monday, January 22. Students who do not turn in their permission slip will stay at Dana Middle while the sixth-grade teachers and students visit Correia.

Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the tour. Parents must provide their own transportation and meet at Correia Middle School. Once at Correia, parents will participate in a casual Q&A with Principal Kyle Kupper while students participate in a campus tour. We are excited to offer this opportunity to our students and their parents. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions to Yvette Toma at [email protected].

Our December food drive for the San Diego Food Bank was a great success!

On behalf of The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, but more importantly, those we serve, I want to thank you and the rest of your supporters at Dana Middle School for hosting your food drive event with us! Your most recent food drive brought in 631 pounds of food which will allow us to provide 526 meals to those in need. That is an incredible impact!
